Vission
APORTIL, I.P. is located in its areas of jurisdiction, aiming at its economic exploitation, its conservation and development, and ensuring national maritime public transport, exercising the powers and prerogatives of port authority entrusted to it by law.
Mission
1. Manage, administer and develop the ports, ensuring the necessary efficiency in the use of space in the public maritime domain in its area of jurisdiction, both on the coastline and at sea;
2. Ensure the coordination, regulation and supervision of activities carried out within its area of jurisdiction, without prejudice to the attributions conferred by law to other entities;
3. Provide or ensure, in its area of jurisdiction, the provision of services related to the functioning of ports, namely in the assistance to ship and in guaranteeing the safety of navigation;
4. Elaborate plans for port management and expansion of port areas, to be submitted for approval by the supervising minister;
5. Elaborate or Prepare studies, plans and projects for maritime and land works, in accordance with the approved plans and programs;
6. Build, acquire, conserve and supervise maritime and land works and floating and land equipment in ports, as well as preserve their funds and accesses;
7. Conceive and execute the strategic plan for the commercial promotion of the ports under its jurisdiction;
8. Ensuring the management of public maritime transport of passengers and cargo between national ports within its area of jurisdiction;
9. Promote the principle of safety first in port operation areas.
